If you have a website, answer these three questions right now:
- How many people visited your website last month?
- What did they do when they got there?
- How many of them contacted you?
If you don't know the answers, your website is a decoration — not a business tool.
This is the situation for the majority of small business websites in India. The website exists. It looks reasonable. And nobody has any idea whether it's actually doing anything.
Why This Matters More Than You Think
If you're spending money on Meta ads, Google Business Profile optimisation, or any other source of digital traffic — and your website doesn't have analytics — you have no idea whether that spending is working. You're driving customers to a shop with no camera and assuming everything is going well.
What Proper Analytics Tells You
With Google Analytics 4 correctly installed and configured, you know:
- How many people visited this month vs last month. Is traffic growing? Declining? Did that campaign you ran actually send people to your site?
- Where they came from. Google search? Direct? Social media? This tells you exactly which channel is actually sending you customers — and which ones you're wasting money on.
- What pages they visited. Are they reading your services page? Or leaving within 5 seconds? If 80% of visitors leave immediately, the website has a problem — and you'd have no way of knowing without analytics.
- Whether they took action. Did they fill your contact form? Did they click your WhatsApp button? Did they call your phone number? These are called conversions — and they're the only metric that actually matters.
- Which device they used. If 70% of your visitors are on mobile and your site isn't properly optimised for phones, you're losing most of your customers before they read a single line.
The Real Cost of Not Knowing
A coaching centre owner we spoke to had been running Facebook ads for six months. ₹3,000 per month. ₹18,000 total investment.
When we installed analytics and reviewed the data, we discovered the ads were driving traffic. But the contact form on the website had been broken for four months. Visitors arrived, tried to enquire, saw a broken form, and left.
₹12,000 in advertising spent sending people to a page where they couldn't contact him. He had no way of knowing — because there was no analytics.
The Fix
Google Analytics 4 is free. Installing it correctly takes approximately two hours for someone who knows what they're doing. Setting up event tracking — so you can see form submissions, button clicks, and phone calls — takes another hour.
If your current website doesn't have analytics installed, or if it's installed but nobody is reading the data every month, that is the most important thing to fix before you spend another rupee on any form of marketing.
A website without data is just a photograph. It might look good. It tells you nothing useful about your business.
Every Velaxon website has Google Analytics 4 installed, configured, and reported on from day one. No extra cost. No setup fee. It's the baseline — because a website without data is not a business asset.
